If you live in an area with hard water (London and the South are the worst offenders), you might have found ways to tackle it in your bathroom. But it will even affect the quality of your tea, too. So consider a kettle with a built-in Brita filter, like this Russell Hobbs model, which is now a quarter off. It’s £25, down from £33.

When we were researching the best kettles on Amazon (according to hyperenthusiastic reviewers), this model had 74 percent five-star reviews. Ninety-six reviewers said the water tasted noticeably better (one even said it was “crystal clear”), although several reviewers said it’s noticeably smaller in terms of water capacity due to the filter taking up space. Over 100 reviewers were impressed at how quickly it boiled, and 25 reviewers said it was good value for the money. Now that it’s on offer, it’s around the price point of some of the cheaper models in our roundup.
