What Snoochie Shy Can’t Live Without

If you’re like us, you’ve probably wondered what famous people add to their carts. Not the JAR brooch and Louis XV chair, but the stain-remover pen and the tongue cleaner. We asked 1Xtra DJ Snoochie Shy, who recently appeared on I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! about the clear lip gloss, Jamaican tonic wine, and comfy footwear she can’t live without.

I wear hoops the majority of the time— I was even able to bring some hoops with me to the castle on I’m a Celebrity last year. The producers told me I could bring jewelry but to try not to take anything too expensive or sentimental, just in case it got lost. That’s fine by me; what I love about these hoops from PLT is that they’re inexpensive and easy to replace if they do get lost. I took five pairs with me, but I own about 100 pairs in total. Most of them have subtle differences—these are one of my favorite and I like the blingy diamanté on them. I would describe them as pretty heavy, though, so you need to take them out and rest your ears for short periods.

This is Jamaican tonic wine; it’s not the sort of thing I’d have for predrinks, but I like to have a bottle before I do my radio show. Not every night, but just to keep it lit. I’d describe the taste as quite medicinal—it’s cherry-ish but doesn’t contain cherries, which I know because I’m allergic to them. It’s quite cough syrup–y and strong, about 16 proof. When I started DJ-ing, I was mainly working in clubs in Dalston and Shoreditch and at the Ace Hotel, which is, sadly, closed now. This was around 2017, and I always saw people going to the off-license to pick up this wine, so I started trying it for myself. I love it so much I named my cat after it.

Dreamies Multipack

Speaking of my cat, Magnum, I can’t live without something he can’t live without—his treaties. His favorite brand is Dreamies, and I order the multipack, which comes with 12 different flavors. They include duck, chicken, and fish, but his favorite, bizarrely, is the cheese one. He can be a bit picky. I used to get this special cat soup for him, which he liked, but he’s gone off it now. I even tried making him his own soup to keep him happy, but no. So we stick to Dreamies, which he is a huge fan of. They calm him down, as he’s quite a chaotic cat.

I’m really weird in that I don’t like color on my lips, so I’m a big fan of Fenty’s balm in Glass Slipper. I think clear gloss just tops everything off. A little bit of lip gloss goes a long way! It’s got a really good shine, and the applicator is very impressive too, so it’s easy to apply. I actually smuggled some of this into I’m a Celeb. You’re not supposed to take that kind of thing in, but I knew I needed to keep my lips hydrated. You’re given little tubes of Vaseline on the show, and I went to the toilets, where there are no cameras, and decanted my Fenty into the tube. [Cast member] Frankie Bridge noticed, though—we were sitting by the fire and she said, “You’ve got lip gloss on; I can tell,” but I had to deny it because the cameras were rolling. She’s going to laugh when she sees this.

This is a newer scent for me. I started wearing it two years ago after someone gifted it to me (I played their song on my radio show and they wanted to say thank you). I haven’t stopped wearing it since. It’s hard to give fragrance to someone because people are particular about scent, so I’m even more impressed. When it ran out, I went to buy some more and didn’t realize when I received it just how expensive it was. But despite that, I wear it all the time. It smells warm and spicy, and I love the design of the bottles, too.

Crocs

I thought Crocs were very ugly before lockdown, but now I’m a convert. I was dating a guy at the time, and he always wore them, and I started to think: Huh, I think I want a pair of those actually. The deal breaker was just how comfortable they are. So I bought a pink pair, and I think they’re cute, so I wear them to the shops; I don’t care. My mum used to look embarrassed when she was with me, but she wants a pair now, too. I also like the Adicrocs—the Adidas take on Crocs—but the originals are my favorite.

I have really sensitive skin, so when it comes to moisturizer, I need to be careful. I’m allergic to a lot of the products you find in everyday products, but my makeup artist recommended I try this one out, as it’s unscented. And I love it, so it’s the only one I use. It keeps me really hydrated, and my skin doesn’t react at all. It’s also not thick—some moisturizers are way too thick, but this is easy to rub in and it disappears in no time.
