The Best Toasters on Amazon, According to Hyperenthusiastic Reviewers

Here at the Strategist UK, we like to think of ourselves as crazy (in the good way) about the stuff we buy, but as much as we’d like to, we can’t try everything. Which is why we have People’s Choice, in which we find the best-reviewed products and single out the most convincing ones. (You can learn more about our rating system and how we pick each item here.)

And while we’ve written about kitchens before — including the best electric kettles and the best slow cookers — here, we’ve rounded up the best toasters as praised by the most enthusiastic reviewers on Amazon.

Best-rated overall toaster

De’Longhi Brillante CTJ4003BK 4-Slice Toaster
£44

The best-rated option comes courtesy of De’Longhi’s Brillante four-slice toaster. It has 1,212 reviews in total, with a staggering 81 percent of those being five stars. Twenty-two reviewers said it was highly recommended, both for its sleek black design and its even browning function. The toaster features adjustable controls to precisely pick your level of toastiness, which 63 customers said worked well. It’s also currently 38 percent off, too, making it a pretty affordable option. Five reviewers also said it does a great job toasting bagels, muffins, and hot cross buns.

Best-rated (less expensive) toaster

Russell Hobbs 24380 Inspire Two-Slice Toaster
£38
£38

A more affordable option that’s still highly rated. This two-slice Russell Hobbs model has 932 reviews, 74 percent of which are five stars, and costs less than 30 pounds; 114 reviewers loved the way it looks, from the chrome accents to the illuminated buttons. One reviewer commented on the toaster’s “lift and look” lever, which lets you lift the bread all the way out of the toaster to check if the bottom is browned too — they said it was great for toasting tea cakes.

Best-rated two-slice toaster

£125

This toaster from Bosch currently has 563 reviews, with 73 percent of those being five stars. Reviewers think it’s a standout toaster, with 42 reviews saying this is the best model on the market. The pop-up warming tray was said to be particularly good at warming dinner rolls and croissants. The slices are wide enough to allow even artisan breads like sourdough or homemade rolls, too, according to one person. It also comes in white, black, and turquoise colours.

Best-rated four-slice toaster

If you have more mouths to feed (or you just love toast), this Breville four-slice toaster comes highly recommended from reviewers. Though 58 reviewers pointed out that the toaster’s left and right sides don’t have separate toaster settings, it was still well reviewed, with 409 reviews total and 70 percent of those being five stars. A total of 37 people wrote positively about the design of it, particularly the ridged detailing, and the high lift setting, which lets you check if the toast is, er, toasty enough without it popping up.

Best-rated kettle and toaster set

When we looked into the best-rated kettles on Amazon, Breville’s Impressions kettle came out on top. So it should come as no surprise that their two-slice toaster-and-kettle set is highly rated, too. This set has 347 reviews on Amazon, with 32 customers saying the simple, modern design was a selling point. One person wrote that she received so many compliments, she started buying it for friends as a housewarming gift — pointing to the versatility of the sleek, white finish. This set also comes available with a four-slice toaster, too.

Best-rated microwave-and-toaster set

With 281 reviews, this is the best-rated set that features a microwave-and-toaster combo. While the microwave is Panasonic, the toaster is the same Breville toaster featured as our best-rated four-slice toaster.

Best-rated kettle, toaster, and microwave set

If you need the full set – that’s kettle, toaster and microwave, Russell Hobbs does all three together for just over a hundred pounds. The set has 1,266 reviews, with 73% of them five stars. Like the model we featured in our best-rated kettles round-up, this kettle can boil water in 45 seconds, while the toaster is a two-slice model. 42 reviewers praise the stylishness of the coordinated set, from a woman buying it for her elderly mother’s new kitchen to a couple moving into their first home. The set is also available in cream, and the supplier notes that the three items may ship separately.

Best-rated camping toaster

Bright Spark Camping Toaster
£12

If you prefer your Marmite on toast a little more alfresco, this is the best-rated outdoor toaster, with 790 reviews in total, 71 percent of which are five stars. Fifteen reviewers said the speed at which it cooked was remarkable, with almost all agreeing that 30 seconds on each side was sufficient (after 20 seconds of warming the toaster up). One happy camper said it was the best camping tool they’d bought. And a mother wrote that the toaster was easy to handle even when hot, meaning her young boys could enjoy toast and honey when they went camping without hurting themselves.

Best-rated small toaster

£30

The Russell Hobbs Adventure toaster is the narrowest, neatest-looking toaster with the best reviews. It currently has 252 reviews total, with 70 percent of reviewers giving it five stars. One in ten of the total reviews say it toasts more evenly than others on the market. Despite being a smaller model (one reviewer says it’s about the size of a loaf of bread), it still gets the job done quickly; several people pointed out that gluten-free bread cooks particularly quickly in this model.

Best-rated see-through toaster

Daewoo SDA1060 Glass Toaster
£41

Fussy toast fans seem particularly delighted with this glass-fronted toaster by Daewoo. One in ten reviewers mentioned the benefits of being able to see the toast as it browns, allowing for a perfectly done piece of toast every time. One person also wrote about the thick slots, which make larger, homemade, or sourdough breads easy to toast, while 11 reviewers said it’s perfect for toasting bagels.
