While there are a lot of kitchen and home deals this year, one thing in particular caught our eye. This Reishunger rice cooker featured in our Best in Class guide, where we crowned it the best simple rice cooker for its no-fuss ability to cook perfectly fluffy rice, every time (it’s also the model I’ve been using myself for more than two years).
It can hold rice for up to six people, though I typically cook two to four portions of white rice myself, which takes about 15 minutes. I’ve also cooked brown rice in it, which turned out beautifully (with a far better texture than if I had done it in a pan). The Reishunger includes a steamer insert, which is really handy for cooking vegetables, and the bowl the rice cooks in is easy to clean. For the first time, it’s also available in a black colourway as well as the original white. As a basic model, it’s certainly no Zojirushi (that’s “the Lamborghini of rice cookers,” according to writer and recipe developer Kiera Wright-Ruiz).
