Here at the Strategist UK, we like to think of ourselves as obsessive (in the best way) about the stuff we buy, but as much as we’d like to, we can’t try everything. Which is why we have People’s Choice, in which we find the best-reviewed products and single out the most convincing ones. (You can learn more about our rating system and how we pick each item here.)
And while we’ve written about Christmas trees before on our U.S. site, here, we’ve rounded up the very best selection of artificial Christmas trees to add some festive cheer to your home, as praised by the most enthusiastic reviewers on Amazon.
Best-rated artificial Christmas tree
Out of 1,659 reviewers, 75 percent of them gave this artificial Canadian Pine by DWA a full five stars. Customers were delighted with the overall effect of this tree; 73 reviewers said the tree was beautiful, and a further 50 commented on what good value it was for the price point. It’s rated 4.8 stars for durability and 4.5 stars for sturdiness, with a number of reviewers saying this was a tree they could see themselves keeping for years to come. One customer updated his review three years later just to say he couldn’t recommend it enough, and loves the tree even more than when he first purchased it.
It comes in a range of sizes — from five to eight feet — in a traditional forest-green colour. As it’s separated into three sections, the majority of reviewers noted how simple it was to put together. Others mentioned how easy the branches were to manoeuvre into a position that made the foliage look thick and fluffy; one customer, who had never bought an artificial Christmas tree before, said she was blown away by how realistic it looked.
Best-rated (less expensive) artificial Christmas tree
This artificial Alaskan Pine has three times the number of reviews than any other tree on this list, with 83 percent of 5,274 reviewers rating it four stars or above. One buyer said she now prefers this tree to her real one, and many others commented on how happy they were with its overall quality. Eighty-nine customers said it was great value for money, with 79 agreeing they would recommend it to others. A further 62 mentioned how the quality of the tree surpassed their expectations, including one buyer who said that, despite being a self-proclaimed Grinch, this tree is the best artificial one she’s ever bought.
Shatchi offers this tree in a range of sizes — from four to 12 feet, with prices varying. At least 118 customers said it was easy to assemble; while some reviewers suggested that you need to take time folding out the branches to give the tree a full, bushy appearance, most said that once this was done, they were extremely happy with the final outcome.
Best artificial Christmas tree with lights
Of 286 reviews, 88 percent of them gave this pre-lit Victorian Pine tree over four stars, with 17 customers saying they would definitely recommend it to others. In fact, one customer, who sold real Christmas trees for 30 years, said this tree was a brilliant investment he would recommend purchasing. The tree has a multifunction controller used to illuminate the 400 warm LED lights woven around its branches, with the option to alternate between eight different light settings. A few reviews expressed disappointment that the tree was slightly under six foot, but the majority of commenters had positive things to say about the overall appearance of the tree. One reviewer said the warm lights made her living room look magical, and nine customers said the aesthetic of the tree was very realistic.
Best seven-foot artificial Christmas tree
This tree from Christow comes highly recommended by Amazon customers, with 86 percent of reviewers rating it four stars and above. Many customers were delighted with the festive effect created by snow-frosted branches and artificial berries; one customer described the tree as luxurious, and another said this was the best artificial tree he’s ever bought.
It comes with a box for storage and a metal stand, with reviewers rating it 4.6 stars for sturdiness. Thirty-seven other customers suggested it was easy to assemble. One reviewer, who claimed to be absolutely terrible at DIY, said it took him just three minutes to put the tree together, and praised how secure the stand felt. Other customers agreed; one woman said her 8-year-old daughter had a wonderful time setting the tree up by herself. If a seven-foot tree is likely to take up too much space in your home, you can also buy a five- or six-foot version.
Best artificial pencil tree
This tall, slim option from the National Tree Company is rated 4.4 stars from 1,145 reviews. It measures seven feet tall with a 29-centimeter diameter, and can be purchased with green or black pine needles. Eight reviewers claimed this pencil tree was the perfect alternative to a real tree; one customer said it receives great admiration from family members each year, while others called it the perfect tree for small spaces. Another bonus? It comes fully assembled — all you need to do is fluff out the branches to achieve a bushy appearance. Reviewers commended this feature, with 36 customers praising how easy it was to set up.
Best artificial snow-covered tree
Seventy-four percent of 710 reviewers gave this six-foot spruce from EVRE five stars. Thirty-seven customers called it beautiful, many of whom commented that few additions were needed to make it look nicely decorated — one customer, who was delighted with the quality of the tree, said this was one of the best artificial trees she’s ever seen. It was considered easy to assemble in 37 reviews, a further 23 commented it was great value for money. A couple of buyers suggested having a vacuum on hand, as the artificial snow can be quite messy during assembly. However many customers commented that they were happy with the overall effect of the tree, especially for its reasonable price.
Best white artificial Christmas tree
Reviewers remarked on the sturdiness and value for money of this 6.4-feet replica of a Canadian fir. This tree is separated into three hinged sections, making it easy to assemble, dismantle and store — a feature that many customers commented on. One buyer said her children were able to put the tree together safely and quickly, and other reviewers mentioned how simple it was to set up by yourself. A top selling point agreed on by reviewers was the price. Customers gave it a full five stars for value for money, with many emphasising how pleased they were with the quality. One reviewer said she’d been inundated with compliments on her tree, while another described it as the majestic centrepiece of her living room.
Best pre-decorated Christmas tree
Although this tree’s review sample size was smaller than some on this list — 157 reviews in total — 92 percent of customers rated this Busybee tree four stars and above. Shoppers praised the variety, quantity, and quality of the decorations included, making this a great option if you’re looking for a hassle-free set up. Kids especially liked it; one customer said her children had an amazing time putting the tree together, while another commented that her kids were mesmerised by the final product.
Decorations include baubles, pine cones, artificial berries, ribbon for making bows, fake snow, and more. Twenty reviewers couldn’t believe how many decorations it came with; one customer, who usually buys a new Christmas tree every year, said this was the most impressive one she’s bought in recent years. Seven buyers also said it was easy to assemble — although some suggested that you might want to put some paper down during the decorating process — unless you’re a fan of glitter covering your floorboards.
Best miniature artificial tree
Of 218 reviews, 81 percent rated this two-foot tree a full five stars. Customers noted how it was the perfect size to sit on an office desk, or at the edge of a mantlepiece. One reviewer bought a tree each for her two children, who were incredibly excited to have a miniature Christmas tree that fit perfectly in their bedrooms. Three reviewers described the base as well-weighted, and the tree scored highly — 4.6 stars — for sturdiness. Two buyers said that investing in a smaller model made the build up to Christmas much less hectic, another mentioned she was happily surprised by how good the tree looked. In fact, 23 reviewers praised how realistic it seemed, commenting that its 59 branches were thick enough to give the tree a full look, despite its smaller size.
