When we spoke to hairdressers about the best hair straighteners, the GHD platinum+ styler was recommended over and over again. ‘I love GHD in general because they use a longer cord’, says celebrity hairstylist Luca Blandi, who has worked with clients such as Anne Hathaway and Kate Bosworth. Blandi and hairstylist Nunzio Saviano both point out the intuitive heat settings on GHD tools, which max out at 185 degrees Celsius (supposedly the optimal temperature for avoiding heat damage) and spread heat evenly through the plates.
This model includes an automatic sleep mode, where the styler will switch off after 30 minutes of nonuse — a salve to anyone who has ever run back home to check if they’ve switched their straighteners off.
It’s on sale at both Selfridge’s and directly through the GHD site, but if you want to pay an extra £10 (for up to 18 characters), the GHD site can add a monogram.
